Sometimes a single click on the mouse is enough to make complicated matters simple. For passengers waiting for the last connection of the day at a small isolated bus stop on a wet and cold fall evening, this can mean: Is the display still showing something or not. A simple matter. It gets complicated when not only these passengers want their desired information but also passengers at other stops. A centralized control software for all the displays makes this possible. Only in this way can countless actual and target times, schedules and connections be automatically compared and the current connection shown promptly on the respective display.
The Windows-based control center software LAWO WinSIM was developed for precisely this purpose. It forwards the current schedule data quickly and easily and supplies each and every display within the passenger information system with precisely the information which should be shown there, without the controller in the control center having to be an IT or programming specialist. WinSim prepares the display data relevant in each case from current data and the current time, the calendar days with the specified days of service and the schedule and sends it serially to the different display types and formats. Even to the display on the small, isolated stop where the freezing passengers complain about the weather again and not against the bus company.
